The Castle Rooms in Uddingston would probably fall into the category of alternative wedding venues in Scotland.
And whilst it may not look like much from the outside, it has two beautiful function rooms and is available for exclusive use.
You can host both your ceremony and reception here, and there’s even an in house catering team to take care of the cuisine.
In addition to this, preferential rates can be arranged for the Angels Hotel, which is under the same ownership.
Let’s take a closer look at what a Castle Rooms wedding would be like.
The Castle Rooms Location
The Castle Rooms joins the list of wedding venues in South Lanarkshire.
However Glasgow’s city centre is only 12 miles away, and can be driven from in approximately 25 minutes.
When you arrive you may find parking a little bit challenging, as there is no private carpark.
There is however a public park right opposite which does have some spaces.
Perhaps a better option would be to hire a large coach for your guests.
This would allow everyone to be dropped right at the door, and not have to worry about where to leave their vehicle.
The Castle Rooms Setting
As you might expect given its proximity to Glasgow, The Castle Rooms is in a built up area with plenty of hustle and bustle going on.
Once inside though you will find a place which is calm and relaxing.
In addition to this it is an exclusive use wedding venue, so your privacy will be absolutely guaranteed.
The function rooms are nice and versatile, and the wedding coordinator will provide a great deal of flexibility.
You’ll definitely have the freedom to create a bespoke day.
The Castle Rooms
The Castle Rooms are made up of two separate suites: the Mill Suite; and the Clyde Suite.
Both suites have their own private entrances, separate bars, and catering facilities.
With the Clyde Suite ideal for intimate receptions, and the Mill Suite for grander affairs.
There’s even a Bridal changing room, which gives you your own little private space.
If you are having a larger wedding which would require the Mill Suite, the Clyde Suite is included in your package even if you don’t actually use it.
The Castle Rooms Accommodation
The Castle Rooms is actually part of Lisini Pub Co, the oldest independent family owned pub company in Glasgow.
They have a lovely little boutique hotel just around the corner, called the Angels Hotel.
It’s a small place which only has 7 bedrooms, but you will be given preferential rates.
For further accommodation, Uddingston has a range of hotels and B&Bs to suit all tastes and budgets.
And if you are really struggling, you can travel back to Glasgow and take advantage of its numerous accommodation options.
The Castle Rooms Ceremony
Religious, civil, and humanist ceremonies are all welcome at The Castle Rooms.
You can use either the Clyde Suite for small ceremonies (seats 45), or the Mill Suite for large ceremonies (seats 130).
Both rooms are nicely decorated, and of course you can add your own bits and pieces.
There isn’t a huge amount of natural light however, which does create a more intimate atmosphere but remind your photographer to bring a flash.
A number of couples actually choose to get married elsewhere, and just have their reception at the venue.
You can’t deny the convenience of having everything under one roof though.
The Castle Rooms Reception
For your dinner reception, the Clyde Suite can be used if you have 45 guests or less.
And for a larger capacity the Mill Suite can seat 130 guests comfortably.
Tables, chairs, and linen are included in your package.
And after dinner the furniture can be pushed to the sides, revealing a purpose built wooden dance floor.
You can even fit a further 20 evening guests in if you wish.

The catering is handled internally at The Castle Rooms, and given their portfolio of hotels you can feel confident that they know what they’re doing.
A comprehensive menu has been created, from which you can pick and choose exactly what you want.
There’s even a complimentary tasting session to help you with your decision.
Special dietary requirements can also be catered for.
When it comes to the drinks, there is a cash bar.
And with a late licence till 1am, you’ll be able to keep the celebrations going that little bit longer.
The Castle Rooms Wedding Photographs
A venues suitability for wedding photographs is so important, and is very often overlooked.
And as said earlier, The Castle Rooms are perhaps lacking a little in natural light.
This in itself it not a major problem, but you’ll want to choose a photographer who is used to working in low light conditions.
There is a public park right across the road, which potentially will give you a space to take some nice outdoor shots.
That is of course if it’s not raining; an area where Glasgow doesn’t exactly excel.
The Castle Rooms Unique Feature
Perhaps not an entirely unique feature, but it’s something The Castle Rooms specialise in so it’s worth mentioning.
