Rutherglen Town Hall joins the list of wedding venues in South Lanarkshire.
However Glasgow’s city centre is only 5 miles away, and can be driven from in approximately 15 minutes.
When you arrive you may find it a little tricky to find parking spaces, as there is no private carpark unless you are a disabled badge holder.
There is however a public carpark a few minutes walk away, which should have some free spaces.
In terms of large vehicle access, buses can get right up to the entrance, so you can put on transportation for your guests if you wish.
Rutherglen Town Hall Setting
Although Rutherglen Town Hall is located outside the centre of Glasgow, it’s still situated in a busy area with lots of hustle and bustle.
Once inside though you will find a fantastically atmospheric building, which really does create a sense of occasion.
You will have access from 9am to get everything setup.
And although it is not an exclusive use wedding venue, there is only one wedding per day, with the areas you’ll be using cordoned off giving you that extra bit of privacy.
Rutherglen Town Hall
Originally built in 1862, Rutherglen Town Hall fell into serious disrepair in the late 20th century.
Fortunately a £12 million pound cash injection brought this beautiful building back to life in 2005, and it now hosts more than 25 weddings per year.
The refurbishment included a large modern glass extension, which has won a number of awards.
And has created a unique blend of both the old and the new.
The main rooms are the Grand Hall and the Mezzanine Bar, and this place is ideal for both intimate weddings and grander affairs.
You even get a Bridal day room, where you can rest and also store your gifts.

There’s no need to though as the glass atrium provides so much natural light, it really is a perfect place for wedding photographs.
If you’d like some more traditional shots, there’s a lovely historic staircase which has also proved popular with couples in the past.
Rutherglen Town Hall Unique Feature
I’ve mentioned this a few times already, but the glass atrium at Rutherglen Town Hall really is a standout feature.
A small fortune has been spent on this modern extension, and it blends so well with the traditional main building.

It would be an incredible place to relax with a drink, and watch the sun go down.
