Roxburghe Hotel: 10 Reasons To Choose This Wedding Venue
Roxburghe Hotel located in the Scottish borders, not to be confused with the Roxburghe Hotel in Edinburgh, is a beautiful country retreat and a wonderful place to spend a weekend.
The accommodation is luxurious and full of character, and the public rooms take you back to a bygone era with antiques and beautiful painting.
The estate even has its own championship golf course.
As you can imagine it’s a great place to relax and take some time out, but it’s also a stunning place to get married.
Let me show you why.
Roxburghe Hotel Location
If you are looking for seclusion and tranquility, in close proximity to Scotlands capital, then look no further than Roxburghe Hotel.
Located in the beautiful Scottish borders and surrounded by rolling countryside, Edinburgh is only about an hours drive away.
There is plenty of parking for cars and the driveway is suitable for large coaches, so transporting guests should be nice and easy.
And once you are there you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Roxburghe Hotel Exclusive Use
You can take Roxburghe Hotel exclusively, however if your numbers are less than 35 you don’t have to.
Small groups can just take the rooms they need, and the rest of the place will remain open to the public.
Once your party goes above 35 people, they do insist you take the entire estate.
Of course this is a lot more expensive, but then you do get complete privacy for the duration of your stay.
Just you, your family, and your friends living like the aristocracy for a couple of days.
Sounds great to me.
Roxburghe Hotel is one of Scotlands most intimate and charming country houses.
And when combined with its stunning location and beautiful gardens, it becomes a terrific place for a wedding.
The elegant inter connecting public rooms on the ground floor, create a lot of flexibility.
And the antique furnishings, books, and paintings provide character and individuality throughout.
Enjoy a quiet drink in the Library Bar, or relax in front of a roaring fire on the Drawing Room’s rich fabric sofas.
The luxury service is second to none.
Roxburghe Hotel Accommodation
Roxburghe Hotel was originally built as a luxury aristocratic retreat.
And it certainly retains that look and feel today.
There are a total of 22 bedrooms, if you include the courtyard rooms minutes from the main house.
All of them have ensuite bathrooms, and many feature four poster beds with open fireplaces.
They are all also unique, with their own style of decor and antique furniture.
So you and 44 of your guests will have an exciting and luxurious place to retreat to, after the celebrations are over.
You will also have the added bonus of enjoying breakfast, with your friends and family the following day.
Roxburghe Hotel Ceremony
Roxburghe Hotel is licensed for both religious and civil ceremonies.
If you are fortunate enough to get some sunshine, you could have your wedding outside on the manicured lawns.
This would give your guests a great view back towards the mansion house.
Failing that the victorian Conservatory, can seat up to 60 guests for your ceremony.
It’s a nice light and airy room, with flowering plants, french windows, and views over the gardens.
If you still need more space, then there’s also the possibility of putting a marquee up on the lawn.
This would increase your capacity to over 250 guests.
Roxburghe Hotel Reception
If your numbers are 35 or less, you could have your dinner reception in the Dining Room at Roxburghe Hotel.
This room has a beautiful bay window overlooking the gardens, and is decorated with gentle blue tones and a tartan carpet.
It also has historical antiques, paintings, and a nice open fireplace.
For a party of up to 56 people, you could also make use of the victorian Conservatory.
Once your numbers get above 56, a marquee on the lawn for dinner and dancing is the best option.
You can use the White New Century marquee, with American Redwood flooring and ivory lining and swags.
It also has double glazed doors, eight arm chandeliers, and of course heating.
Roxburghe Hotel Catering
The catering is handled internally at Roxburghe Hotel, and is overseen by Chef Albert Roux.
The Roux cooking dynasty being responsible for the UK’s first ever three Michelin Star restaurant.
They will work closely with you to create the menu and the atmosphere that you desire.
And it can be as relaxed or as formal as you want.
To complement the exquisite cuisine, there is a wine cellar with over 120 different bottles.
Some of which come from the Duke of Roxburghe’s personal collection.
Although it is possible to just buy house wine by the glass.
Roxburghe Hotel Grounds
Roxburghe Hotel has some lovely grounds for you to explore and enjoy.
From summer drinks on the victorian terrace to a relaxing stroll through the gardens, it’s a beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors.
If you feel like being active, you can learn to clay pigeon shoot or go fishing on the Tweed with the resident Gillie.
Or perhaps even make use of the championship golf course on the estate.
Croquet on the lawn with your guests sounds like great fun too.
Roxburghe Hotel Bridal Suite
Originally the master bedroom in the mansion house, the Bowmont Suite makes the perfect Bridal Suite.
All of the bedrooms at Roxburghe Hotel are very nice, but this one is absolutely beautiful.
Light and very spacious with stunning views over the lawns, it has many original features including an open log fireplace.
There is a lovely ensuite bathroom, and some comfy sofas where you can relax and reflect on the day.
