In 1779 Lady Dalrymple inherited Oxenfoord Castle, and Sir John Dalrymple immediately hired Robert Adam to enlarge the property.

It was also upgraded and extended in 1840 by William Burn, to form largely what you see today.

The exterior has incredible castle features such as corner turrets, however the large windows mean the interior is nice and light.

There are four key reception rooms for you to make use of: Drawing Room; Dining Room; Morning Room; and Library.

All of them have incredible carved woodwork, and ornate plaster ceilings.

They are also very versatile, offering you complete flexibility when it comes to both your ceremony and reception.

Sadly you can’t stay the night at Oxenfoord Castle.

However they will provide you with a day room.

Located on the first floor, this spacious area is ideal for preparation and wedding photos.

In terms of alternative accommodation, you can be back in Edinburgh in less than 30 minutes with its enormous range of hotels.

Religious, civil, and humanist ceremonies are all welcome at Oxenfoord Castle.

The bright and beautifully decorated Drawing Room is the most popular option, with its ability to seat 100 guests.

However if the weather is behaving, you can have an outdoor ceremony on the rear lawn.

If you would like to get married in a church, Cranstoun Church is located in the grounds and is within walking distance.

You also have the option of Crichton Church, which is a few miles away.

  • Saltire Hospitality.

Whichever one you choose you can expect exquisite menus created using the best local produce, and five star service to match.

Tasting sessions can be arranged to aid your choice, and full bar facilities can be provided on the day.

If you would like to bring your own champagne and wine, this is possible for a corkage fee of £4 per person.

There are 68 acres of glorious parkland to explore at Oxenfoord Castle.
