Logie Country House: 10 Reasons To Choose This Scottish Wedding Venue

Logie Country House is without question one of my favourite wedding venues in Scotland.

My sister got married here last year, and then the following weekend, so did my best friend.

As you can imagine, it was a fortnight of fun and excitement for me, which included having to deliver a best man speech.

Terrifying!

Now given my experience of Logie Country House, I wanted to share with you what makes this place so special.

Let’s take a closer look at what a Logie Country House wedding would be like.

Logie Country House Location

If you are familiar with Bennachie, Logie Country House is nestled at the foot of these mountains.

The venue enjoys this beautiful country setting, and yet is only 16 miles from Aberdeen.

Most wedding venues in Aberdeenshire benefit from this practical convenience.

If you and your wedding guests live in the city, this short distance will prove very useful, as you inevitably shuttle people and materials backwards and forwards.

At my best friends wedding, some of the wedding party scaled the 528m Oxen Craig on the Saturday morning.

Having done this myself, I can confirm you get incredible views over the Royal Burgh of Inverurie and beyond.

Logie also has a large parking area and access for coaches.

Logie Country House Setting

If you like your privacy then look no further, as this is an exclusive use wedding venue.

Logie Country House gives you the entire estate all to yourself, for the duration of your stay.

Just picture yourself, your family, and your friends, living in this fortified castle for 4 days.

Even the house itself can be divided up into more private areas.

There is a self contained guest wing, complete with 5 bedrooms, two sitting rooms and its own kitchen.

You can close this area off from the main house, to create a nice little hideaway.

Logie Country House Accommodation

It looks brand new, because largely it is.

However the original building dates back to the 1670’s, with an extension added in the 1700’s.

Tragedy struck in 1975, when a fire virtually destroyed everything.

Logie Country House then remained as a ruin until 2009, when its current owners restored the estate to its former glory.

What you are left with now, is a mansion with all the charm of an old building, with all the convenience of a modern one.

Period antiques and paintings feature throughout the house, and there are numerous exciting corridors and passageways to explore.

The 13 bedrooms can accommodate up to 32 guests comfortably.

In addition to this, there is a dining room which can seat 50 guests for smaller weddings, or act as a social room for your weekend party.

Logie Country House Facilities

There are so many facilities at Logie Country House, you really need to get the full tour to appreciate them all.

Your own private swimming pool is of course a highlight.

However there are also two outdoor hot tubs, which saw a lot of use whilst I was there.

One of the hot tubs overlooks the front lawn, and is a great place to relax and sip champagne.

In addition to this, you have a private cinema, multiple flat screens, games consoles, DVDs, SKY, the Internet, and much more.

This place is luxury heaven.

Logie Country House Ceremony

Most people choose to get married in the fabulous Ballroom at Logie Country House, which can comfortably seat 150 guests.

However if you are prepared to brave the elements, the fully enclosed courtyard is also a wonderful option.

Marque tents can be put up, to shelter you and your guests from the Scottish outdoors.

Although I haven’t experienced a ceremony in the courtyard myself, both my sister and my best friend used this space for an excellent Sunday BBQ.

Food delivery is made easy, with the main kitchen accessed directly from the courtyard.

There is also a full range of BBQ equipment on stand by.

Logie Country House Reception

Opposite the main house, is the purpose built ballroom.

It’s a very short walk across the courtyard, just in case the rain starts.

The new ballroom adjoins the old stable blocks, which have been converted into a cool bar, and toilet facilities.

There is plenty of room to have your ceremony and seat 150 guests for dinner.

In the unlikely event of a heat wave, there is air conditioning, and the room can be sectioned off, should you want something more intimate.

It’s a really nice space.

Logie Country House Catering

The catering at Logie Country House, is handled by the award winning Hudsons.

Having experienced two of their dinners, I can honestly say the food and service is exceptional.

Hudsons will work with you to create your ideal menu, and you have the option to attend a tasting session.

There is also a fully licensed bar, with three newly installed beer taps.

The bar is situated away from the dance floor, in a nice little chill out area.

And depending on how generous you are feeling, you can either have a cash bar, or you can pick up the tab yourself.

Logie Country House Grounds

The original estate extended to over 7,500 acres.

However today it’s a more modest, yet still large 130 acres.

The river Urie runs through the grounds, and a private island complete with tree house, can be accessed via a wooden bridge.

If you are interested in wildlife, red deer can be spotted in the ancient woodlands, and if you’re really lucky, otters and birds of prey inhabit the area.

I didn’t actually see them myself, but three standing stones with Pictish symbols, are waiting to be found.

The south facing lawns are also perfect for fun and games, like a slip and slide, or just for a pleasant walk.

Logie Country House Unique Feature

On the morning of your wedding, the bridal suite will become a busy place.

Bridesmaids, photographers, makeup artists, hair dressers; you will need room for them all.

Fortunately Logie Country House has you covered here, with a large triple room master suite.

Honestly, you need to see the bathroom!

In addition to the cavernous space, you also have the most amazing views over the lawns, and into the distance.

Make sure you find the secret staircase, which leads to the kitchen and the swimming pool.

It all adds up to the perfect place for getting ready.
