Gean House: 10 Reasons To Choose This Scottish Wedding Venue
As far as wedding venues in Scotland go, Gean House is a pretty fantastic one.
The 20th century Edwardian mansion has a range of reception rooms, allowing a huge amount of flexibility to your day.
With manicured lawns and beautiful gardens providing the perfect backdrop for both outdoor ceremonies and wedding photos.
In addition to this you can also take the entire estate exclusively, giving you maximum privacy and tranquillity.
Let’s take a closer look at what a Gean House wedding would be like.
Gean House Location
Gean House is located about 7 miles east of Stirling, with a journey time of roughly 15 minutes.
Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Perth are all less than an hours drive away too.
This makes it a very convenient location for 4 of Scotland cities.
A major bonus of wedding venues in Clackmannanshire.
On arrival you will find plenty of parking for you and your guests.
And although the drive is a little bit narrow, access for large coaches is not a problem.
Gean House Setting
Despite being close to a major city, the setting at Gean House is one of tranquility.
The grounds give you a sense of isolation, and the estate has a nice country atmosphere.
This is an exclusive use wedding venue, giving you and your guests complete privacy for the duration of your stay.
No other functions will be had at the same time, and all of the accommodation is allocated to you.
It really is like having your own mansion for the weekend.
Would you believe that Gean House was actually a wedding present, from the Scottish woollen yarn magnate Alexander Forrester Paton to his son.
Taking its name from the wild cherry trees in the grounds, it was built in 1912 and designed to be softer and less formal than a traditional grand manor.
Solid walls and warm wood panelling, are complemented by open fireplaces and large windows.
It’s a very stylish and elegant house, and yet is still comfortable.
Your guests will be able to wander between the 7 receptions rooms, enjoying some peace and quiet in the Drawing Room, or perhaps a drink at the Bar.
There’s even a kids play room complete with TV and DVD player.
The possibilities are endless.
Gean House Accommodation
There are 11 individual ensuite bedrooms in Gean House, which can sleep up to 25 guests.
They are made up of 7 double bedrooms, 3 family bedrooms, and 1 single bedroom.
Each has its own unique style, making use of the original character.
And they all have lovely views over the gardens and grounds.
In addition to the mansion accommodation, there is also the Orchard Lodge on the estate.
It’s a modern property, with 7 ensuite double/twin bedrooms which can sleep up to 14 guests.
There’s also a lounge and kitchen dinner.
So in total the estate has 18 bedrooms, which can sleep up to 39 guests.
Gean House Ceremony
Gean House is licensed for religious, civil, and humanist ceremonies both inside and outside in the gardens.
Whilst there are a range of reception rooms to choose from, the Billiard Room with its wood panelling and large bay window is the popular choice.
The space is nice and light with terrific views, and has a capacity for 70 guests.
Alternatively you can brave the elements and opt for a ceremony alfresco.
The gardens are absolutely beautiful, and providing the sun is shining this could be a lovely option.
Gean House Reception
There are three other rooms, with capacities ranging from 15 to 50 guests, which can be used for your wedding reception.
However it’s the Garden Room, with its ability to seat 70 guests which is chosen the most.
Large windows let in lots of light, and the views over the grounds are stunning.
The colours are neutral and there’s a wood burning stove at one end.
You can even open the french doors so your guests can enjoy the Scottish summer.
When it comes to your evening reception, the Main Hall can be used for drinks and dancing, with its capacity for 120 people.
Your drinks reception can be had virtually anywhere.
Gean House Catering
Gordon Guthrie is the fantastic head chef at Gean House.
Him and his team have created a range of menus, each with 3 courses and 3 options per course.
You can choose from one of the menus or mix and match if you wish.
Failing that a custom menu can be created just for you.
Either way the food and service is of the highest standard.
It is possible to bring your own alcohol, however there’s a corkage fee starting at £12 per bottle.
Gean House Grounds
These old country houses always have so much to offer, but it’s the gardens and grounds that really impress.
Beautiful gardens were once a status symbol, and as a result lots of time and money has been spent creating them.
Take a relaxing stroll in amongst the flowers and manicured lawns, or how about a game of croquet with your guests.
There’s something really wonderful about being outside at a wedding.
Most importantly the opportunity for great wedding photographs is something you won’t need to worry about.
Picturesque backdrops can be found around every corner.
Gean House Unique Feature
Gean House actually has its own private bar.
Ok this is something you would get if you chose to get married in a hotel.
However in a hotel you would most likely have to share that bar.
Because this is an exclusive use wedding venue, this bar would be only for you and your guests.
And not just for your wedding day, but for the duration of your stay.
