As the name probably suggests, Castle Lachlan joins the long list of castle wedding venues in Scotland.
It’s located in a beautifully secluded part of the west coast, and enjoys fabulous views out over Loch Fyne.
In addition to providing overnight accommodation for 10 guests, the castle can also play host to ceremonies and receptions for up to 50 people.
And if you are looking for more space, there is plenty of room on the front lawn for a marquee.
Let’s take a closer look at what a Castle Lachlan wedding would be like.
Castle Lachlan Location
Wedding Venues in Argyll and Bute are renowned for their fantastic scenery, with Castle Lachlan occupying a prime location in Strathlachlan.
Glasgow is the closest city at 70 miles away, and although the journey time is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, it’s a drive filled with spectacular views.
Stirling is fractionally further at 75 miles away, and can be driven from in a little under 2 hours.
On arrival you will find reasonable onsite parking for your guests.
And although the drive is very narrow, large vehicle access is possible if you’d like to put on a coach.
Castle Lachlan Setting

Castle Lachlan is still a family home, however it has been cleverly divided into two properties.
You will get the entire Southwest facing section all to yourself, which in essence makes this an exclusive use wedding venue.
In addition to the magnificent property, you will also have all 1,500 acres of the Castle Lachlan Estate to enjoy.
As you can imagine this gives you a unique level of privacy, and a wonderfully tranquil place to spend time with family and friends.
It’s a lovely setting for a wedding.
Castle Lachlan

Originally built in the late 18th century, Castle Lachlan is a Scottish Baronial mansion.
The Maclachlan family still live in the rear section of the property, with the front section available for hire.
In addition to the bedrooms, you will also have the Drawing Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, and Billiard Room.
Plus the minimum hire period is 3 days, so you will have plenty of time to settle in and get organised.
In terms of wedding coordination, they don’t really have anyone to play this role currently.
So think of it very much as a do it yourself wedding venue.

Castle Lachlan Ceremony

You will have the option of both an indoor and an outdoor ceremony at Castle Lachlan.
The Drawing Room is a bright and spacious indoor choice, which can seat up to 50 guests.
However most people choose to get married outside on the front lawn, where 200 people can easily be accommodated.
For the really adventurous the Old Castle Ruin, which is situated right on the loch a ten minute walk away, could be a really unique option for up to 70 guests.
And finally there is a local church at the end or the drive, which can seat 100 people.
Castle Lachlan Reception

When it comes to your dinner reception you can either use the Dining Room inside the castle, or put up a Marquee on the front lawn.
The Dining Room is a lovely historic space, with wooden floors and a capacity for 50 guests.
It also has the Billiard Room adjacent, which is an excellent place to relax after dinner.
For maximum space a marquee for 200 people is not a problem.
There are provisions for both electricity and water, however you will need to hire toilets.
Your wedding package also does not include tables, chairs, crockery, cutlery, and glassware, so you will need to source them separately too.
Castle Lachlan Catering

Unusually for this type of wedding venue, you are completely free to choose any caterer you wish.
However it’s probably worth considering someone who has worked there before, so that they have some experience of the venue.
For dinner receptions inside the castle, there is a fully equipped kitchen which can be used.
And because there are no bar facilities, you will need to bring your own drinks.
If you are having your dinner reception inside the marquee, it’s probably worth hiring a third party company to provide a licensed bar.
Castle Lachlan Entertainment

Space is fairly limited inside Castle Lachlan, so if you want to put on a band and have some dancing, then best go for the Marquee.
The front lawn has plenty of room, so marquee’s of all shapes and sizes can be put up.
Which in turn will give you more than enough space for a proper ceilidh.
There is no sound limiter in operation to spoil the celebrations, and the party can continue right up until 12:30 am.
