Ardoch: 10 Reasons To Choose This Scottish Wedding Venue
There is no shortage of picturesque wedding venues in Scotland, but Ardoch located on the banks of Loch Lomond is a pretty special one.
You can have your ceremony outdoors, with the water and the mountains providing the most romantic backdrop.
And then you can sit down to your dinner reception in the contemporary barn, still enjoying the spectacular views.
In addition to this, the Ardoch Estate can sleep up to 32 people in modern luxurious accommodation.
Let’s take a closer look at what a Ardoch wedding would be like.
Ardoch is located on the southern shore of Loch Lomond, in the world renowned Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.
There are a few fantastic wedding venues in West Dunbartonshire, which includes the five star Cameron House.
Glasgow is only 30 miles away with a journey time of 45 minutes, and Stirling is a fraction closer at 28 miles with a journey time of 40 minutes.
When you arrive you will find plenty of onsite parking, and if you would like to transport your guests in a coach, large vehicle access is possible.
There is perhaps no more a romantic setting than on the banks of Loch Lomond.
This place is absolutely steeped in folklore, history, and beauty.
Occupying an elevated position, the views from the properties are spectacular, and the atmosphere is very welcoming.
You are also guaranteed absolute privacy, as this is an exclusive use wedding venue.
And because it sits right in the centre of an acreage largely made up of fields, you are going to get a real sense of tranquility.
It’s a lovely spot for a wedding.
Bought, upgraded, and expanded between 2006 and 2010, Ardoch House is actually three separate but adjoining properties.
You have the contemporary Barn, the original House, and the new Cottages, each providing bedrooms and versatile reception spaces.
They all have a unique atmosphere with stunning views in every direction.
And the entire place has been setup to make the most of the outdoors.
Whether its the lovely internal courtyard or the covered terrace, you’ll definitely be hoping for some nice weather.
It’s a really exciting and interesting place to spend a weekend.
You can sleep up to 32 people in 17 beautifully styled ensuite bedrooms at Ardoch.
All of the accommodation is done to a very high standard, and it has the ideal layout for socialising and relaxing.
The Barn has 8 bedrooms which can sleep 16 guests, and each room can be either twins or a double.
The House has 4 bedrooms which can sleep 8 guests, and a great Drawing Room with a wood burning stove.
And finally the Cottages (Fern, Moss, and Pine), have a combined 5 bedrooms which can sleep 8 guests.
They also have a shared Kitchen and Lounge.
Ardoch is licensed for religious, civil, and humanist ceremonies both inside the house and outside in the grounds.
As you can imagine the outdoor option is the most popular, providing your guests with a view which is without equal.
However as we all know, doing anything outside in Scotland can be risky.
And should the weather turn, or if you would just prefer an indoor ceremony, then the Dining Room with its capacity for 60 guests can be used.
More recently there have been some marquee weddings on the estate, so this is another possibility if you require more indoor space.
If the sun is shining then your drinks reception can be had outside on the lawn.
If it’s not, then there are various reception rooms which would still allow your guests to enjoy the views.
When it comes to your dinner reception, the beautiful Barn Dining Room with its large windows and covered terrace is perfect.
It has a capacity for up to 60 seated guests, and with the tables and chairs cleared away, makes a nice dance floor.
You can even open the French doors, and allow your guests to spill out into the summers evening.
For more space a marquee on the lawn is also a possibility.
This will of course cost more money, but will give you that extra bit of room.
The catering at Ardoch is handled internally.
Their chefs have created fantastic menus, using fresh seasonal ingredients.
Menus can be adapted to cater for special dietary requirements, and you can customise dishes if you wish.
This is not just for your wedding breakfast either, and three meals a day can be provided if you would like.
There are kitchen facilities if you want to self cater also.
When it comes to the drinks, there is a good selection of wines, beers, and soft drinks.
Speciality drinks are available by request.
There is so much to like about Ardoch, but the grounds are truly spectacular.
The mesmerising backdrop of Loch Lomond is ever present, and the estate even has its own little Lochan.
There are 133 acres to explore around the properties, which includes some nice woodland trails.
And of course there is some fantastic hill walking available in the area.
More importantly your photographer is going to have no problem creating the most spectacular wedding photos.
With scenic backdrops virtually everywhere you look.
Ardoch Unique Feature
The Dining Room at Ardoch opens out onto a lovely covered terrace, which is ideal for allowing your guests to get some fresh air.
However it is possible to take this to the next level, and actually have your wedding breakfast outside on the terrace.
Probably not something that happens too often in Scotland, and it certainly would be a little bit risky.
But it would also be pretty unique, and something your guests would remember for a long time.
