Archerfield House: 10 Reasons To Choose This Wedding Venue

Archerfield House

Archerfield House is actually a 500 acre estate, complete with lodges, pavilions, boathouses, and two 18 hole golf courses.

Its positioning on the northern shores of East Lothian, gives it stunning panoramic vistas of the Scottish countryside and the Firth of Forth.

Plus with so many buildings and with so much land, the possibilities for both wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions are endless.

The estate can sleep up to 138 guests, and can accommodate up to 200 people for your wedding breakfast.

And if you are a golf enthusiast, well this place is going to be idyllic.

Let’s take a closer look.

Archerfield House Location

Archerfield House Location

The Archerfield Estate has a prime location in East Lothian, with Archerfield House surrounded by beautiful parkland and scenic golf courses.

You get a great blend of countryside, manicured greens, sandy beeches, and of course the sea here.

I think this tends to be a sunnier part of Scotland too.

Edinburgh is a very convenient 20 miles away, and even a large coach should manage the journey in around 40 minutes.

And once you arrive you will find peace and tranquility, which is a world away from the busy city.

Archerfield House Exclusive Use

Archerfield House Exclusive Use

Because of the size of the estate, you can’t have it all exclusively.

That would mean closing down two 18 hole golf courses.

However you can take the individual properties exclusively.

For example the 15 bedroom Archerfield House can be all yours and only yours, as can a number of the other properties.

I wouldn’t worry too much about privacy though, other than seeing strangers playing golf in the distance, it will largely just be you, your family, and your friends.

In 1298 King Edward I ordered his English troops to invade Scotland.

The archers setup camp on the site of Archerfield House, hence the name.

During the Second World War the British army took over the estate, and it was largely left to ruin in the decades after.

Fortunately it was given a new lease of life recently, and now boasts two wonderful locations for hosting weddings.

The 17th century mansion house, with its luxurious and relaxing atmosphere.

And the waterfront pavilion, set in 28 acres and bordering the Firth of Forth.

Which one you choose will depend largely on your theme and your guest numbers.
